Mission Rock

Mission Rock

Estimated Completion: 2024

Location: San Francisco, CA

Role: Senior Project Lead with Studio Gang

Program: Multi-Use Residential

Size: 310,000 SF, 255 Units with 38% BMR, 23 Stories

Mission Rock Block F is a residential tower located in the center of San Francisco's 11-parcel mixed-use Mission Rock development. Mission Rock will become a new destination in the city for visitors as well as sports fans, and will provide much needed office space, market-rate and below market-rate housing, pedestrian-scale retail, light commercial space and open parks and plazas.

Fronting the central Mission Rock Plaza, the podium is terraced towards the plaza to create visual connection between the building and public space. Supporting the indoor-outdoor lifestyle of San Francisco, the corners of the residential tower are carved away to create outdoor space that is oriented towards sun and views, and away from wind. The horizontal bands of each floor are stepped to maximize sunlight and views into the units, while the ceramic tile cladding adds richness in color and texture to the facade to further create a warm, welcoming place for residents and the public.
