West Village Loft

West Village Loft

Completed in 2017

Location: Manhattan, NY

Role: Project Architect with Joel Sanders Architecture

Size: 2500 SF

The West Village Loft is a full renovation for a corner loft overlooking the West Side Highway and Hudson River. The 15-foot ceiling height allowed just enough space to house an occupiable mezzanine, where the sleeping quarters are tucked away. The mezzanine was imagined as a floating volume detached from the exterior walls, opening up the living spaces to the double-height windows and seamless circulation along the perimeter. Double-height storage spaces line the main circulation areas where there are no windows, accentuating the dramatic height of the loft while maximizing storage.
